THIS IS MY STORY

Our short film co-production with Near Southside neighbor Amphibian Stage opened for the incredible Fort Worth feature MISS JUNETEENTH at The Grand Berry Theater to celebrate our newest national holiday. From show creator Dev'n Goodman, THIS IS MY STORY shares the experiences of local black men – Dr. Carlos L Walker Sr., Henry Wasonga Abuto and LaJohn McDonald Jr. – in their own words with poetry by Charles Jackson, Calvin J Walker and George Njomo, artwork by Jasmine Woods, and a music performance by Tha Band.

FWAAMFest

Black Music is American Music, and the Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival deepens our rich local culture by sowing the seeds of a new music community and placing Fort Worth in the vanguard by bringing awareness to an often-forgotten piece of America's musical history. FWAAMFest is a program of Decolonizing the Music Room, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.
